In 2013-2014, a phase III study of the drug under the code SB4 actually took place in a number of EU countries, South America and Ukraine - patients used an already well-studied safe drug that was potentially effective against their disease. Using this code, you can find detailed information about the goals and results of this study in open clinical trial databases (The European Union Clinical Trials Register, Good Clinical Practice Network). The purpose of the study was to compare the effectiveness of the drug SB4 and the drug Enbrel in patients who have moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis.

These claims are unfounded. The President proposed to direct the funds to the state budget so that the Ukrainian authorities could independently distribute them among Ukrainian refugees. He explained that after the full-scale aggression by the Russian Federation, Ukrainians took their money with them, which still remains in Europe.

The disinformation is based on an interview with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell to CNN, published on March 25, 2024. Josep Borrell discussed the policy of support for Ukraine from the EU and the United States. In the context of his visit to the United States in March 2024, Borrell warned that the coming months would be decisive for Russia's war against Ukraine and called on allies to urgently help Kyiv. Borrell emphasised that support for Ukraine is extremely important for allies, not just as a "show of love for the people of Ukraine," but as a contribution to the defence capability of Ukraine and NATO countries. Josep Borrell once again noted that the consequences of Russia's theoretical victory in Ukraine will be catastrophic for the EU and Russia will not stop.

A broad coalition of nations including the EU and the US supports Ukraine with military equipment and economic aid. Kyiv's Western partners help Ukraine to liberate all of its occupied territories and restore its sovereignty within its internationally recognised borders of 1991. Ukraine is acting in self-defence against the Russian invasion as enshrined in the UN Charter Article 51. Ukraine receives only conventional weapons. Nuclear arms and other means of mass destruction are not supplied to Ukraine.

DISINFO: When the West became a participant in the conflict in Ukraine, the special military operation became a war

There are no US or NATO forces on the frontline. The West or the US is not at war with Russia or the Russians. Since Russia launched its full-scale, unjustified aggression against Ukraine on 24 February 2022, the West has been calling for Russian withdrawal from Ukraine and a peaceful settlement. The West is not seeking a war in the heart of Europe.

DISINFO: Sanctions against Russia leading to opposite result than intended

Russia's economy has felt serious impact from the international sanctions its unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. The ruble has weakened and inflation is soaring. Despite Moscow's welcoming efforts, Foreign Direct Investment is falling. Hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens have fled the country since the outbreak the invasion. Sanctions on Russia's banking and financial system, the embargo on electronic components and the price caps on Russian oil and petroleum products have also led to serious consequences for the Russian economy.

DISINFO: The West ignored Russia’s calls for peace negotiations

On 5 and 6 August 2023 Saudi Arabia hosted multinational peace talks attended by 40 countries (including China) in Jeddah focusing on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposed peace plan. More recently, on 1 December 2023, a tenth working meeting with representatives of 83 states and three international organizations on the implementation of the Ukraine's Peace Formula was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. Ukraine's peace formula was also discussed in Davos at the WEF in January 2024. In February 2024, Switzerland announced it would organise a high-level Ukraine peace conference by the summer, the date of which has not yet been announced.

DISINFO: The EU’s ‘peacekeeping’ policy in Ukraine and elsewhere costs hundreds of thousands of lives

The fact that the EU, along with the US and other international partners, provides Kyiv with financial and military assistance does not mean that Europe opposes a peaceful settlement in Ukraine. What increases the number of casualties is Moscow's continuation of its unprovoked and unjustified aggression.
