No, Zelensky hasn’t bought Eagle’s Nest, it is still in ownership of Bavarian state

Russia's war against Ukraine is not only a military confrontation, but Moscow is also deliberately targetting the Ukrainian president with disinformation and narratives that seek to discredit him. In early February 2025, posts on social media falsely claimed that Volodymyr Zelensky had purchased a property known as the Eagle's Nest in Berchtesgaden in the southern German state of Bavaria. However, the site -- which was closely associated with the Nazis during World War II and is a popular tourist destination even today -- is still owned by the state authorities. Furthermore, the false claims seem to have originated from a Russian disinformation network.

DISINFO: The EU struck by the virus of fascism on the eve of the elections

Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative targeting the upcoming European Parliament elections. This narrative also accuses the EU of Nazism. Both claims were made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The widespread Russian accusations of "Nazism" against European states is a tool of political pressure, since Russia itself is trying to justify its aggression against Ukraine with the mythical need to "denazify" Ukraine. The UN has repeatedly emphasised that Russia's actions seriously undermine the genuine attempts of the world community in the fight against neo-Nazism.

DISINFO: NATO promotes fascism in Europe and uses proxy wars to destroy Russia

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives portraying the war in Ukraine as a proxy war and blaming NATO and the so-called "Collective West" for it, accusing the EU of Nazism and claiming that Europe's aim is to invade and destroy Russia in the long run.

These claims are made in the context of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and aim to deflect Russia's responsibility for its aggression against this country.

DISINFO: Kyiv is behind the attack at the Crocus in Moscow

DISINFO: Ukraine uses chemical weapons against Russia

There is no evidence to back the claim that Ukraine is preparing a chemical provocation or a use of the weapons of mass destruction.

In March 2024, the 105th session of the Executive Council of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) was held. One of the topics of the meeting was the use of chemical weapons in the war against Ukraine. Members of the OPCW Council rejected Russian accusations against Ukraine, calling them a disinformation campaign aimed at creating confusion in the Council and discrediting the OPCW. Russia was also accused of spreading unsubstantiated accusations regarding Ukraine's alleged "plans" to use chemical weapons on its own territory.

DISINFO: The Crocus centre hall attackers were neo-Nazi Ukrainians

Putin himself acknowledged late on 25 March that Islamists were committing the attack. The myth of Nazi-ruled Ukraine has been the cornerstone of Russian disinformation about the country since the very beginning of the 2013-14 Euromaidan protests, when it was used to discredit the pro-European popular uprising in Kyiv and, subsequently, the broader pro-Western shift in Ukraine's foreign policy.

DISINFO: US and its NATO vassals are conducting a proxy war against Russia using Ukraine as a battlefield

Ukraine and its population are defending themselves against the Russian armed aggression in a remarkable display of continued courage and determination. This is not a decision by NATO, Washington, the EU or others.

The US, the EU and NATO condemn in the strongest possible terms Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which is entirely unjustified and unprovoked. Not only Western but also many other nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country's efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

DISINFO: Ukraine promotes Nazism because it oppresses Russians

There are no Nazis in the Ukrainian government. Accusations of Nazism are one of the most common pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives aimed at undermining the statehood of Ukraine. The narrative of alleged Nazism in Ukraine has been actively used in Russian disinformation since the 2014 Euromaidan protests to discredit Kyiv's shift toward Euro-Atlantic policy.

DISINFO: Ukraine recognised the participation of NATO mercenaries in the war against Russia

The disinformation is based on an official statement from the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, published on March 7, the anniversary of the creation of the International Legion of Ukrainian Military Intelligence. The statement notes that "The Legion united volunteers from more than 50 countries of the world, who, after a full-scale invasion, came to the aid of Ukrainians and began to fight the troops of terrorist Russia," the report says.
